Commentary: Gas Prices ARE Out of Control.

Let's take a look at two headlines in recent weeks:

Gas Station Owner Told to Raise Prices

Dealer prices gas over $4 in protest

The first story takes place in Wisconsin, the second in San Francescio. I recently filled my tank up for a whopping $40 in North Carolina (where the lowest grade of gas is priced at $2.87 - compare that to Detroit, Mi where gas prices are under $2.50) and noticed something interesting about the taxes - if I hadn't needed to pay a tax per gallon to the State of North Carolina, my gas would have been a full dollar cheaper. And if there were no taxes listed, my gas would have actually been closer to $1.50 than the price it was.

What is going on, people? Is it the Hybrid cars that everyone are buying up, intimidating oil companies into making their prices insanely high? Or is this the Federal Government trying to tell us that global warming is real, so they're jacking prices up to discourage us from driving as much? Or, and this is the one that I'm leaning toward the most - is our president an ignorant ___________ who's too busy lining his own pockets with ill gotten gains (oil money) to care what the people he's supposed to preside over are going through?

I mean, how many times have you sat back and honestly been going through your budget and had to decide over not paying something or all of something because you knew your gas budget would be cutting into your funds?

And for those of us with that problem, do we ever stop to ask how come the cost of living is going up (gas, rent, electricity, food) but minimum wage hasn't budged since Clinton was in office? What the hell, man? And how come people voted for Bush more than once?

Are you thinking clearly? Yes, you. Are you?

How come a corporation can tell someone that you're not selling your gas for enough money? Why hasn't someone stepped in and placed a cap on prices and said to Shell, Exxon, and the Mobil's of the world, "You need to get that shit under control. The average American is struggling and gas prices are a large part of the reason why!"?
